How do SmileDirectClub clear aligners straighten teeth?

SmileDirectClub aligners make slight adjustments to tooth positioning, a process that is reviewed and approved by an Australian registered dentist or orthodontist before you undergo treatment. Our aligners are made using Comfort Sense technology, which utilises soft, medium, and firm plastics to gradually shift your teeth. You’ll begin wearing a new set of aligners as prescribed, advancing you to the next stage of your new smile. We make it even easier by shipping your aligners directly to you.

How long does SmileDirectClub take to straighten teeth?

The Australian registered dentist or orthodontist assigned to you will determine the best plan for your needs, but we straighten most smiles in an average of 4-6 months.

Sometimes, however, teeth can be stubborn and not shift as expected. In fact, it’s why your dentist or orthodontist conducts regular virtual Smile Check-ins™ to track your progress. These check ins allow your dentist to verify your treatment is going according to plan, and if necessary, recommend an aligner touch-up to correct your plan. If they determine that an adjustment is necessary, we’ll create and ship new aligners, at no cost to you. They’ll work with you to determine if an aligner touch-up, or additional straightening treatment, is necessary. If it is, we’ll create and ship new aligners to you for no additional cost.

How do I know if I’m right for SmileDirectClub aligners?

Our clear aligner system is designed for minor to moderate teeth correction, including space between teeth, crowding, rotations, and some bite correction.

If that sounds like you, the next best step is to purchase your aligners. We’ll send you a kit to get high definition impressions of your teeth. Those will be used to create your Smile Prescription™, which is reviewed and approved by an Australian registered dentist or orthodontist. This prescribing doctor will make the final decision if you qualify for treatment with SmileDirectClub aligners. If you do not qualify, we will refund your purchase in full.

How much do SmileDirectClub aligners cost?

We have two easy ways to pay for your aligners, so pick the one that works for you. Both include 24/7 access to care and our Lifetime Smile Guarantee™.

Single Pay: Our lowest overall cost option. Make a one-time payment of $3149 – which is half the cost of braces.

“Half the cost of braces” claim based on Single Pay vs. avg. fees (incl. diagnostics and exams) for braces treatment, as reported in a nat’l survey of practitioners. Comparison does not include added costs, such as retainers, and is limited to mild-to-moderate teeth correction, as braces may treat additional issues.

Can I use insurance to pay for SmileDirectClub clear aligners?

At this time, SmileDirectClub is not covered by private health insurers. We are working hard to educate private health insurers about our mission and the services we enable Australian registered dentists and orthodontists to provide through our telehealth platform.

What’s the warranty or guarantee for SmileDirectClub?

At SmileDirectClub, we protect your smile for life with our Lifetime Smile Guarantee™. If at the end of your treatment plan, having followed the treatment guidelines, you haven’t achieved a straighter smile, contact us so your Australian registered dentist or orthodontist can re-evaluate your results. If your re-evaluation is approved by the dentist or orthodontist, you may be eligible for additional aligners to continue your journey. Please be aware that the return policy is outlined on our Returns Page. Don’t forget: You need to notify us within 30 days of completing your treatment plan for the Lifetime Smile Guarantee to remain valid.
