Are SmileDirectClub aligners covered by insurance?
Yes, you may be eligible for coverage from your insurance company. Use the instant eligibility tool on our Insurance Page to find out exactly how much your provider will cover. In most cases, SmileDirectClub will coordinate payment directly with the insurance company, so you only pay the balance of what you owe after insurance coverage is applied to your total treatment cost. There are some cases where your insurance company may require that you pay the total balance of your aligner treatment before applying for reimbursement through them. If so, we will provide the forms you need to file your reimbursement claim with your insurance provider.
How much does SmileDirectClub cost?
Start with an $18 from-home impression kit (free after return) or a free 3D scan at a SmileShop. Next, we offer two convenient payment options. Option 1 is Single Pay. Make a one-time payment of $2050 – that’s 60% less than braces or Invisalign “60% less than braces or Invisalign” claim is based on Single Pay vs. average fees (including diagnostics and in-person exams) for treatment of mild-to-moderate malocclusion with braces or Invisalign as reported in national surveys of practicing dentists and orthodontists offering such treatments. How long does SmileDirectClub take to straighten teeth?
The state-licensed dentist or orthodontist assigned to you will determine the best plan for your needs, but we straighten most smiles in an average of 4-6 months. “4-6 months” claim is based on the number of 22 hour wear customer orders (approx. 95%) with treatment plans that are 4, 5, or 6 months.

Sometimes, however, teeth can be stubborn and not shift as expected. In fact, it’s why your dentist or orthodontist conducts regular virtual Smile Check-ins™ to track your progress. These check ins allow your dentist to verify your treatment is going according to plan, and if necessary, recommend an aligner touch-up to correct your plan. If they determine that an adjustment is necessary, we’ll create and ship new aligners, at no cost to you. They’ll work with you to determine if an aligner touch-up, or additional straightening treatment, is necessary. If it is, we’ll create and ship new aligners to you for no additional cost.
How do I know which teeth straightening solution is best for my teen?

SmileDirectClub Nighttime Aligners™ are worn for 10 continuous hours each night. They provide a more flexible solution for teens who don’t want to commit to 22 hours of daily wear. Treatment takes an average of 10 months. “10 months” claim is based on the number of 10-hour nighttime wear customer orders (approx. 95%) with treatment plans that are 8-12 months.
