invisible retainers straight teeth after braces

Why do I need a retainer?

You’ve reached the end of your SmileDirectClub smile journey, and the straight, bright smile you’ve dreamed of is all yours. Congrats! Our invisible aligners help straighten your teeth for 60% less than other clear braces brands.

The last thing you want is for your beautiful smile to move to where it was before you started wearing aligners. That’s where our handy retainers come in! Retainers protect your smile from shifting again.

How do I get a retainer?

SmileDirectClub invisible retainers are custom-fit and totally discreet. We recommend calling our Customer Care team to order your retainers six weeks before you complete your smile plan. This will allow enough time to get your retainers into production and ensure you have them ready to wear as soon as you complete treatment.

Don’t forget: You have up to 90 days after completion of your invisible aligner plan to order your retainers. We strongly advise purchasing retainers to safeguard your new, beautiful smile.

When do I need to wear my retainer?

Once you’ve completed your full smile plan, you’ll need to wear your retainers regularly to maintain your smile. During the first two weeks, wear them 24 hours a day, except for eating and drinking. After that, you’ll only need to wear them while you sleep. Replace your retainers every six months to keep them fresh.

What’s the difference between my last invisible aligners and retainers?

Aligners are made out of plastic designed to gently move teeth in small increments. They’re not made for long-term use. Our retainers, on the other hand, are made from thicker .76mm thermoplastic polyurethane. They help keep your teeth from moving back to their original positions like they were before you started your smile journey. A set of our retainers lasts up to 6 months.

How I get retainers?

At this time, our retainers are only available for customers who have gone through our invisible aligner therapy.
