When should children consider clear aligners?

One of the best parts about SmileDirectClub is our minimum age requirement – 12 years old! If you’re at least 12 and have all your permanent teeth, SmileDirectClub could give you the smile you’ll love (and for 60% less than other teeth straightening options). The days of wearing traditional metal braces at prom and high school graduation are becoming a thing of the past.

What does SmileDirectClub do?

We use clear aligners – clear, plastic trays that fit snugly on your teeth – to straighten teeth in small, incremental movements. Our aligners are made of smooth, comfortable, BPA-free plastic that won’t irritate your cheeks and gums like traditional metal braces do.

Is my teen a candidate?

SmileDirectClub clear aligners work best for those in need of mild to moderate teeth correction, including gaps and spaces between teeth, crowding, and rotation. Take our free, 30-second Smile Assessment to see if you’re a candidate. Then get started with an at-home impression kit or a visit to your local SmileShop for a 3D scan of your mouth.

For customers under the age of 18, we’ll need a parent or guardian signature on the medical history form provided during the evaluation step.

What’s the difference between SmileDirectClub and braces?

Metal braces correct more severe issues, such as overbite, underbite, and crossbite. Braces can also help treat jaw disorders. Braces are highly visible on your teeth, and they often require the use of attachments and rubber bands.

SmileDirectClub clear aligners are discreet and removable, making it much easier to clean your teeth (and your aligners!). Plus, you won’t have to worry about food restrictions like you do with braces. As long as you take out your aligners first, you can eat and drink whatever you want. Popcorn, anyone?

At SmileDirectClub, we eliminate the need for monthly office visits, saving you thousands of dollars. But there’s still a doctor involved each step of the way. One of our 225 duly licensed dentists and orthodontists approves your smile plan, and our dental care team is available to answer your clinical questions by chat, phone, or email. Your dentist or orthodontist will also check in with you remotely every 90 days to make sure everything is on track.

Our clear aligners cost $1850 up front, or you can choose SmilePay for $250 down and $80 a month for 24 months. No credit checks. No forms to fill out. SmileDirectClub also accepts HSA, FSA, and CareCredit, and you may be able to submit for reimbursement from your insurance company.
