Designed as bright and colorful smoothies full of vitamins and topped with crunchy nuts and fresh fruit, a smoothie bowl for breakfast is a great way to transform your morning into a healthy start to the day. The combinations are unlimited! All you have to do is keep a few key ingredients in your refrigerator and pantry, such as bananas, a sweet fruit or two, one protein, a healthy fat, and a superfood.
Plus, smoothies are a great choice if your teeth are feeling at all tender from wearing your invisible aligners during your smile plan.
Lately we’ve been craving PB&Js and experimenting with the smoothie bowl-version of the classic sandwich. And just in time for summer, we’ve created a recipe that tastes as good as it sounds! Replace the peanut butter with almond butter, a nut butter with less saturated fat than peanut butter, and your breakfast will be full of vitamins sure to make you smile.
Fruit: 1 frozen banana
Fruit: 1 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries
Fruit: 1 cup of fresh or frozen strawberries
Healthy Fat: 3 tablespoons of almond butter
Superfood: 1 teaspoon of chia seeds
Liquid: 1 cup of apple juice
Optional: 3–5 ice cubes
½ banana (sliced), 1 tablespoon of chia, flax, or hemp seeds, ¼ cup of raw almonds, raspberries, and dried coconut
Juice 2 apples and add all smoothie ingredients into blender. Blend on high for 25 seconds. Pour in bowl and add toppings!
Enjoy!
